Mangalore: An expert committee constituted by Microbiologists’ Society, India has recommended Senior Microbiology Professor and first director of Mangalore University’s PG Centre at ‘Jnana Kaveri’ campus, Kodagu, Prof. M Jayashankar’s name for its prestigious ‘Best teacher’ award for the year 2020.

During his 28-years of service, Prof. M Jayashankar successfully handled a variety of responsibilities at Mangalore University. Being a professor in the Microbiology department, at present he is the chief of the employment bureau of Mangalore University. He had also worked as a special officer at the university for a few months.

So far, under the guidance of Prof. M Jayashankar, 12 researchers perceived their doctoral degree and 8 are involved in research at present. He has published more than 76 research papers in national / international journals.

A seven-member committee headed by Dr. S D Patil, Senior Professor/ scientist at Shivaji Science College, Amravati recommended the name of achievers from different states including Karnataka for the national-award.
