Mangalore: Puneet Sagar Abhiyana cleanliness drive under the aegis of DG NCC, New Delhi has been organised by 18 Kar Bn NCC, Mangalore at Thota Bengre Beach on 01 Apr 2022 from 4.30 PM to 6.00 PM. The event was spearheaded by Commanding Officer N R Bhide with an aim to create awareness amongst dwellers of sea side as to far reaching repercussions of sea pollution. Huge piles of trash lifted from Bengre Beach. Local gram panchayats, non-governmental organisations, youth bodies, voluntary organisations and general public joined the drive in removing trash from the beaches.
The drive was organised collectively by the 18 KarBn, 5 Kar Naval Unit NCC & 6 Kar Air Sqn NCC, Mangalore. Oceans are the largest water bodies on the planet Earth. Over the last few decades, excessive human activities have severely affected marine life on the Earth’s oceans. Ocean pollution, also known as marine pollution, is the spreading of harmful substances such as oil, plastic, industrial and agricultural waste and chemical particles into the ocean.
