Mangalore: During the social and educational survey to be conducted by the State Backward Classes Commission from Sep. 22 to Oct. 7, e-KYC is mandatory for family members who do not have ration cards and whose names are not on the ration cards. For this, everyone should ensure that their mobile number is linked to the Aadhaar card, said Assembly Speaker U.T. Khader.

He spoke after presiding over an information workshop on the survey at the Netravati Hall of the D.K. Zilla Panchayat on Wednesday, which was attended by MLAs, heads of various religions, castes and communities.

The commission has decided to conduct the survey at the scheduled time. Information about the survey has already been given by pasting stickers. A form containing 60 questionnaires about the survey will be delivered to every household by ASHA workers. The household should have prepared the information required for this questionnaire. Later, trained teachers, who have received official ID cards from the commission, visit the houses and upload the information from the household members on their mobile phones. In this case, those available at the house should provide complete information about the family members adequately. The teachers assigned for this task need a maximum of 1 hour to collect information from a house. They will collect information from 10 houses per day. If the information is ready, it will be easy to fill in the information, said U.T. Khader.

Survey without prior preparation: - The work of pasting stickers on houses has been done without providing proper information to the public about conducting the survey. Although it was stated in it that this should not be torn, many households who were unaware have torn it and thrown it away. Information about this meeting was also given yesterday. When there is a lot of confusion about the survey, this survey is being conducted without giving information to the public, MLAs Vedavyas Kamath and Dr. Bharat Shetty objected.

This meeting has been called as the first in D.K. district to provide information about this. U.T. Khader said that the opinions, objections and suggestions expressed by the people's representatives and leaders of various communities in the meeting will be brought to the notice of the commission and the work of correcting them will be done.

There will be no sub-caste entry for SC, ST

Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes will not be allowed to enter sub-castes. In response to the question of Sheena, a leader of the Adi Dravidian community, the relevant castes should be entered under the SC ST castes already notified by the Central Government, Karnataka State Backward Classes Commission Secretary Urmila B. clarified.

If there are two names for a caste, then there is a possibility in the synonym column

In D.K. district, we have identified ourselves as Bunts or Nadavas. The caste column has Bunts and if Nadava is mentioned in the sub-caste, this will cause confusion in our numbers, said Ajit Kumar Rai Maladi, president of the Nadava Matruta Sangh.

If Bunts is mentioned in the caste column and Nadava is mentioned in the ‘Specify’ under the other column, it will be included in the synonym. Urmila B. said that there will be no confusion.

The leaders also drew the attention of the meeting about the confusions of the Gatti, Theia, Mansa and Jain communities.
