Mangalore: The Valedictory Ceremony of Aloysius Model United Nations (ALMUN) 3.0 was held on 13 December at 12:00 PM in the Robert Sequeira Hall, St. Aloysius Deemed to be University.


The ceremony marked the successful conclusion of three days of insightful discussions, diplomatic engagements among delegates from different colleges.
The programme commenced with a prayer song, seeking blessings for the wisdom gained and the lessons learned. This was followed by the escorting of the dignitaries, Michael Dsouza, the Chief guest, Dr. Charles V Furtado, the president of the event, Dr. Rose Veera Dsouza, the chief advisor of ALMUN 3.0 and the staff conveners, Dr. Shalini Aiyappa and Dr. Shakila Hegde to the dais by Secretary general, Vatscin Sai Prasad and Director General, Shravya Pramod, lending a formal and dignified beginning to the event. The gathering was then formally welcomed through the welcome address by Dr. Shalini, Head of the Department of Psychology, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the dignitaries, faculty members, organizers, and delegates for their presence and continued support. She highlighted the importance of ALMUN as a platform for nurturing leadership,
diplomacy, and critical thinking among students, and emphasized that this year ALMUN was a collaborative initiative between the Department of Psychology and the Department of Political Science, reflecting the interdisciplinary spirit of the event.
The Chief Guest, Michael D’Souza, a well-known philanthropist, delivered an inspiring address to the gathering. In his speech, he emphasized the significance of being responsible and ethical citizens in today’s world. He encouraged the students to always choose what is right, even when it is difficult, and to uphold integrity and compassion in their personal and professional lives.
Following this, the presidential address was delivered by Dr. Charles V. Furtado, Director of the Administration Block. He delivered an encouraging speech to all the delegates, appreciating their active participation in the event and motivating them to continue engaging in such initiatives in the future. He emphasized the significance of the 3Ds—Debate, Diplomacy, and Dialogue and also highlighted their role in shaping informed, responsible, and effective global citizens. Then, as a gesture of appreciation and gratitude, mementos were presented to both the Chief Guest, Michael D’Souza and the President Dr. Charles V Furtado by the School of Arts and Humanities, the Department of Political Science, and the Department of Psychology.
The ceremony then proceeded with the much-anticipated prize distribution. The Chairpersons and Vice Chairpersons from all five committees of ALMUN 3.0, International Press, Game of Thrones, United Nations General Assembly , Historic Crises Committee and lastly Lokh Sabha were invited to the stage one after the other to share their thoughts about the past three days and to announce the winners. The prizes for the winners were presented by the dignitaries, acknowledging the delegates’ outstanding performance, A trophy was awarded to the college with best delegation. Certificates were also distributed to the Chairpersons and Vice Chairpersons in recognition of their dedication and leadership during the conference.
The vote of thanks was delivered by Vatscin Sai Prasad, the Secretary General of ALMUN 3.0, who expressed heartfelt gratitude to the dignitaries, Staff Conveners, organizing team, volunteers, and delegates for their invaluable contributions. The dignitaries were then escorted back to their seats, following which a video presentation showcasing glimpses from the three-day event was screened.
The programme concluded with the official closing of ALMUN 3.0, which was declared by Vatscin Sai Prasad, Secretary General, bringing the valedictory ceremony to a dignified and memorable end.
