Puttur, Nov 20: St Philomena College (Autonomous) conducted a welcome programme for its newly admitted first-year MCA students, marking the beginning of the academic journey with an inspiring and supportive environment.

The event was presided over by Principal Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, who delivered an impactful address emphasizing the importance of embodying four core values: justice, discernment, courage, and self-discipline. He described these virtues as guiding lights for life, stating that their consistent practice ensures steadfast stability, ethical conduct, and personal growth regardless of life’s circumstances or responsibilities. Dr Monteiro urged students to integrate these values into their academic and social lives as the best possible contribution to society and to remain humble even as they move up in their professional careers. He encouraged all students to actively participate in every programme organized by the department.

Dr Vijaykumar Moleyar, Vice Principal, attended as chief guest and expressed that inaugural events such as this help dispel the hesitancy felt by newcomers and motivate them toward achievement. Highlighting the age of smart technology, he encouraged students to seize every opportunity the college offers for future success.

Outstanding first-year students Ranjan S, Shravya K, and Sayyed Mohammed Mahashsham and second-year MCA students Chaitanya and Apoorva, who excelled in their examinations, were honoured on this occasion. Assistant Professor of MCA   Akshata B led the felicitation ceremony of the achievers.

Nireeksha and team rendered prayer. Dr Vinaychandra, Dean of the MCA Department, delivered the welcome and introductory remarks. Shilpa, second-year MCA student, offered the vote of thanks. Apoorva, also a second-year MCA student, compered the event. MCA Assistant Professors Neelam Kuttappa and Shodhan PG provided further support and graced the stage.
