Mangalore September, 17 - Tobacco sales are banned near school and college campuses which comes within the range of Mangalore City Corporation Assistant Commissioner of Mangalore City Corporation Dr. Santosh Kumar said.
Speaking at a virtual workshop on Tuesday, September 16, on the implementation of the Kotpa-2003 Act and the exclusive trade license provision and benefits for tobacco vendors.
He said "already taken several steps to regulate the sale of tobacco and narcotics in each ward and prohibiting the sale and consumption of tobacco, within 100 meters of school colleges, and if such shops license will be revoked."
Dr. Srinidhi, Senior Technical Adviser on Tobacco Control in Delhi Speaking on the issue, said that "The Kotpa Act should be complied with when issuing a business license. According to the law, authorities must immediately impose fines if they are found smoking in public places. The license of such stores must be revoked if tobacco is found to be in violation of the rule."
"Tobacco is harmful to human health and the successful implementation of the Kotpa Act, which regulates the sale of tobacco products."
She added that "No smoking boards should be put on in public places including shop, hotel, park, movie theater, hospital, office, bus station, train station."
