Mangalore: "BJP MLA Vedavyas Kamath on Wednesday clarified that the Income-Tax office in Mangalore will not be merged with the Goa office".
Speaking on the subject Kamath informed that "there is a proposal to have a single person as the Chief Commissioner at both the offices. In this backdrop, the Chief Commissioner at Mangalore IT office may shift to Goa. But news regarding the relocation/merger of the entire office is far from true", he said.
"Mangalore IT office, which covers the Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada districts generate an annual income of around Rs 4,000 crore. BJP MP Nalin Kateel had written a letter to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Union Minister DV Sadananda Gowda urging them against the relocation of the office", he added.
Further, Kamath alleged that the Congress was misleading people by spreading rumours on the issue for their political benefits.
