Tamil Nadu: The brutal murder of Father and son by police of Tamil Nadu for not closing a shop in time during COVID-19.

The State High court has ordered the arrest of 4 police men who were in accused of torturing father and son in the police station for not closing the shop in time during Covid time. 

The two police officers sub-inspectors Balakrishnan and Raghuganesh were arrested with the charges of torturing and killing 2 Christian men in police custody.

Sub-inspector Raghuganesh, the primary accused in the murder of Jayaraj and Fenix, was the first to be remanded to custody as soon as the CBI took over the case.

The probe confirmed that police brutality led to the deaths. The magistrate also stated that police officials did not cooperate with the probe and even attempted to threaten him. 

"The high court has done a commendable job and now we can hope the victims' family will get justice," said Bishop Stephan Antony Pillai of Tuticorin.

P. Jayaraj (58) who was arrested on June 19 for not closing his son's mobile shop on time during COVID and when his son Bennicks(Fenix) Immanuel (31) who went to enquire on the arrest of his father was also arrested and both were tortured in the police station.

In this touture in Tamil Nadu P. Jayaraj and his son died in the government hospital following the arrest on June 19.

Son Fenix died on June 22 and Jayaraj died the next day. they belonged to the protestant church of South India.
