New Delhi: The Telecom Ministry of India on Wednesday directed all companies in its jurisdiction to limit their purchases to 'Made in India' products.
20 soldiers have been killed in a violent confrontation between Indian and Chinese soldiers in the Galvan Valley.
According to news sources, the telecom ministry will not use Chinese equipment for upgrades to BSNL, MTNL and other affiliates.
In addition, the ministry has directed all concerned departments to make the purchase of manufactured goods in India a priority as part of the Center's pressure for "Atmanibhara Bharat".
This decision by the Telecom Ministry will play a major role in the 4G renewal purchase of its subsidiaries. According to government sources, the telecom department has ordered its subsidiaries to rework tenders for the renewal of 4G facilities.
On May 31, Bharat Sanchar Nigam (BSNL) canceled the Rs 8,697 crore 4G tender in March this year. The cancellation was also blamed on the failure of the public sector (PSU) to comply with public sector purchasing standards.
