Mathew: 9:28-29 "Jesus said to blind men, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” They said to Him, “Yes, Lord.” Then He touched their eyes and said, “According to your faith let it be done to you.”  And their eyes were opened."

Reflection

An encounter with Jesus would liberate us from our physical and spiritual darkness. Consider the blind men in Matt 9:27 in that light. They were living in darkness but when they embraced jesus great light shone on them. Think of Nicodemus also; he came to Jesus in the night (Jn 3:2), a symbol of darkness, and was enlightened by Jesus. Thenceforth, he started speaking for the light (cf Jn 7:50-51).

The Messiah can also liberate you from the darkness of your deficiencies and restore you to wholeness (Isa 29:17-24).

You only need to embrace the virtues of meekness and humility (Isa 29:19) as well as faith in Jesus (Mt 9:28).

May your restoration be whole in this season of the Lord so that your joy may be complete in the Lord.

QUESTION TO PONDER

Do we really believe that? Just as in the gospel, Jesus asked the two blind men, "Do you believe I can do this?", Jesus is also asking us if we can believe how great God's love is for us.

The mystery of the Incarnation is a deep mystery. Let us, in the time of Advent, set aside time for prayer, meditation and silence to enter into this mystery and be loved by God.

On this First Friday of the last month of 2020, let us renew our consecration, obedience and love in the Sacred Heart of our Blessed Lord.

SAINT OF THE DAY

St John Damascene

Let us also seek the intercession of St John Damascene – the Saint of the Day

He is a Doctor of the Church known especially for his defence of Sacred Arts, especially icons.

He is the champion of that article in the Creed which says, "I believe in the Communion of Saints."

He is also known for his poetry and his devotion to Blessed Mother Mary

May his words inspire us:

“In former times, God, who is without form or body, could never be depicted. But now when God is seen in the flesh conversing with men, I make an image of the God whom I see. I do not worship matter; I worship the Creator of matter who became matter for my sake.”

“Because of the Incarnation, I salute all remaining matter with reverence! The whole earth is a living icon of the face of God”

“Our Lady is rest for those who work, consolation for those who weep, medicine for the sick, harbour for those assailed by tempests, pardon for sinners, sweet relief for the sad and succour for those who implore!”

God bless you. Have a day of blessing
