To anyone who has, more will be given, and from the one who has not, even what he seems to have will be taken away.”
Today's Reflection
In the gospel reading this morning Jesus uses the image of a lighted lamp which should be placed on a lamp stand so that people may see the light when they enter the room.
It is an image which calls on us to allow the light within us to shine on others, the light of Jesus, the light of our faith, hope and love.
As well as writing deeply theological books Cardinal Newman also wrote some wonderful prayers.
One of those prayers is a fitting commentary on this morning’s gospel reading and here is a section of it,
‘Jesus… Shine through me and be so in me that every soul I come in contact with may feel your presence in my soul.
Let them look up and see no longer me, but only Jesus!
Stay with me and then I will begin to shine as you shine, so to shine as to be a light to others.
The light, O Jesus, will be all from you; none of it will be mine. It will be you, shining on others through me.
Let me thus praise you in the way which you love best, by shining on those around me’.
Good morning.
May you feel God's Grace and protection. Wish you a Happy, peaceful day and a great week ahead
