Mangalore : August 6, 2020 rain with heavy gusty winds uprooted trees , electricity poles and blew away tiles of houses across the district .
11 electricity poles came crashing down in Nerallakatee and Sanampady in Uppinangadi. Massive tree uprooted and crashed on two electricity poles at Byrikatte. Due to uprooting of the tree , traffic on Vitla – kanyana stretch was disrupted for a few hours. Bathing ghats in temple town of Subrahamanya have submerged again .
The old bridge was also submerged. Traffic between Panja and subramanya was disrupted due to flooding on the old bridge.
88.3mm rainfall
Dakshina kannada districts received an average rainfall of 88.3mm in the past 24 hours on Wednesday. The district had received an average rain fall of 57.7mm during the corresponding period in the previous monsoon. Belthangadi taluk topped the list of taluks with an average rainfall of 123.5mm.due to heavy rainfall in the catchment areas , the water level of river Nethravathi in Bantwal which was stood at 7.4 meters is close to breaching the danger mark (8.5mt)
