Udupi: The Covid-19 government test lab, set up in Udupi district, was inaugurated by Kota Srinivasa Poojary, Minister of State of Muzarai, Ports and Inland Water Transport, on Wednesday, July 8.
Speaking afterwards, the minister said there was only one test lab in the state at the beginning of the corona, but with this lab, the number of Covid test labs in the state has increased to 82.
Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary said that the district first had to rely on Mangalore, Hassan and Shimoga districts for testing, and now the lab has started to get a report soon. More than 1390 positive cases have been reported in the district, out of which 1100 are from Maharashtra. Minister Kota said the lab was specially sanctioned by the Hon'ble Chief Ministers for the need to start a lab for those coming to the district from outside states and countries.
Minister Kota Srinivasa Poojary said that the Udupi district administration has been working in a very systematic manner regarding the corona control and management of the district, and congratulated the government in charge of the district, all district legislators and especially the district authorities.
Karkala MLA Sunil Kumar inaugurated the ambulance monitoring system, which is designed to prevent delays in hospitalization of Covid-19 patients in the district. GPS for all government ambulances in the district for this project introduced and it will possible to ascertain the ambulance’s location about its location. District Collector G. Jagadeesh said the scheme would be the first in the state to be able to use the nearest ambulance without delaying the hospitalization of the Covid patient.
MLA Raghupati Bhat inaugurated a bed management system designed to provide information on the beds needed for corona patients' care in hospitals in the district. According to the plan, the Corona patient in the district will have access to information on how many beds are vacant and what amenities are available in the nearest hospital.
Mattaru Ratnakara Hagde, President of the Coastal Development Authority, MLA Lalji R Mendan, CEO of District Panchayat Preity Gehlot, District Surgeon Dr. Madhusudan Nayak, DHO Dr. Sudhir Chandra Sooda, Covid-19 District Nodal Officer Dr Prashant Bhat, Health Department officials and others were present.
