Kochi, Mar 03: The Kerala police have registered a case of sexual harassment against Chidambaram, the director of the critically acclaimed film ‘Manjummel Boys’.

The action has been taken based on a complaint filed by an actress. According to an Asianet News report, the Ernakulam Town South police officially registered an FIR on Monday (March 2, 2026). The actress has explained in her complaint that the incident took place two years ago.
Details of the allegation
The actress has alleged that Chidambaram illegally entered her flat in Ernakulam in 2022 with sexual intent. The complaint states that the director forcibly entered the flat, behaved physically indecently and behaved in a manner that was degrading to the dignity of the woman.
The police have registered a case under the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Section 74 (outraging the modesty of a woman) and Section 75 (sexual harassment) have been registered.
According to police officials, the FIR has been registered based on the actress’s statement for the time being. “Further strict action will be taken only after preliminary investigation and necessary verification,” the police clarified.
Impact on career?
After the huge success of ‘Manjummal Boys’, Chidambaram emerged as a star director in Malayalam cinema. He is currently busy working on his new film ‘Balan’, scripted by Jithu Madhavan. There has been no official response from Chidambaram so far on these serious allegations.
