New Delhi, March 28: Live worms were found in the packed curd served to a passenger on the Patna-Tatanagar Vande Bharat Express. Leading dairy brand Amul has been summoned by the IRCTC on Friday.

The Railway Ministry has imposed a heavy fine on both the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) and the service provider Krishna Enterprises. It has also directed them to cancel the contract.
“IRCTC has taken the complaints regarding the quality of Amul curd served on the Patna-Tata Vande Bharat train very seriously,” the corporation said in a statement.
Besides imposing a substantial fine on the licensees and Amul, it has also initiated the process of cancelling the contract and blacklisting the licensees of the train.
“Furthermore, Amul has been summoned on March 27 to explain the serious quality concerns related to the curd,” the statement said.
When contacted on the matter, IRCTC declined to disclose the explanation given by Amul. There was also no immediate response from Amul.
On March 15, a group of seven passengers on the Vande Bharat train found live worms and insects in the containers of Amul-packed curd served with their meal.
Passenger Ritesh Singh immediately took to his social media to mention the issue, tagging IRCTC, the Railway Minister and others.
