New York, Mar 09: A bomb has been allegedly thrown at the home of New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani. The attackers attacked him during a protest outside his New York residence, Gracie Mansion.

New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s house has been allegedly thrown at the home of New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani. The attackers attacked him during a protest outside his New York residence, Gracie Mansion. Six people have been arrested following the incident.

According to New York Police Commissioner Jessica S. Tisch, a suspicious device was thrown during the protest. This led to a brief scuffle. It was not clear whether Mayor Mamdani and his wife, Rama Duaji, were inside the house at the time of the incident. The incident occurred during clashes between anti-Islamic protests and counter-protests.

The anti-Islam protest was organized to protest Muslim prayers in public spaces. It was organized by individuals associated with far-right activist Jake Lang.

Lang had previously been linked to the January 6 Capitol attack. Initially, it was feared that it might have been an attempt to attack Mayor Mamdani. However, police later found no such indication. The incident was not related to ongoing US-Israel-Iran tensions.

About 20 people participated in the anti-Islam protest. The demonstration began around 11 a.m. near East End Avenue and East 87th Street. In response, a counter-protest called Drive the Nazis Out of New York City/Stand Against Hate was organized. It attracted about 125 people.

To control the situation, police separated the two groups. However, the situation suddenly became tense around 12:15 p.m. when a man participating in the anti-Islam protest sprayed pepper spray on counter-protesters.

Around 12:30 p.m., 18-year-old protester Emir Balat allegedly threw a flammable device at the opposing group. The spray-like devices were thrown. Both men were taken into custody. The entire incident was recorded on police cameras.
