New Delhi, April 12: The NIA has taken 26/11 terrorist Tahawar Rana, who was extradited from the US to India, into its custody for 18 days, and a team led by DIG Jai Rai began questioning him at the NIA headquarters in Delhi on Friday amid tight security.

Arrangements have been made for his stay on the ground floor of the NIA office and the interrogation took place on the 3rd floor. Officers are monitoring the situation 24 hours a day. Tight security has been put in place around the NIA office. Rana's cell is 14x14 and is under CCTV surveillance and under the strict guard of security personnel. Only 12 top NIA officials are allowed to enter this room. Rana will remain in this cell until the 18-day custody period granted by the court ends.

He is being provided with food and basic necessities inside the cell. His movement within the NIA premises will be limited. All the interrogations are taking place in a room next to the cell on the 3rd floor. There are 2 cameras there to record the interrogation. After the interrogation is over, he will be shifted to the ground floor cell, sources said.

26/11 terrorist Rana's bluntness during interrogation

The NIA has taken 26/11 terrorist Tahawwur Rana, who was deported to India from the US, into its custody for 18 days. He is not answering questions properly. Therefore, the interrogation lasted only 3 hours, sources said.

Rana planned to attack other cities as well: NIA

The Special Investigation Team (NIA) told the Delhi court that 26/11 terrorist Tahawwur Rana had planned to attack not only Mumbai but also other cities in India. A special judge in a Delhi court on Thursday. The NIA, which argued in the presence of Chandrajeet Singh, said, ‘Rana had planned to carry out acts of sabotage in other cities of India like the attack in Mumbai.’ Following this, the court remanded Rana in NIA custody for 18 days.

It was learned that Rana had visited not only Mumbai but also Kochi in Kerala and Agra, home to the Taj Mahal, before the Mumbai attacks in 2008. Therefore, it is likely that Rana had planned to attack here too.

Rana had said that terrorists should be given Pakistan’s gallantry award

As 26/11 Mumbai attack terrorist Tahawar Rana returns to India from the US, some shocking information is being revealed about him. He had said that the terrorists who carried out the attacks should be given Pakistan’s gallantry award, and after the Mumbai attacks, the US has said that ‘Indians have been punished.’

In its official statement on Rana's extradition, the US has provided information about a telephone conversation between one of the conspirators, David Headley, and Rana.

"After 166 people were killed in attacks carried out by 10 LeT terrorists in 12 locations in Mumbai, Rana had said, 'This is what Indians should have done. They have been punished accordingly.'" It also states that Rana had told Headley that the nine LeT terrorists who died in the 26/11 Mumbai attacks should be awarded Pakistan's highest gallantry award, the 'Nishan-e-Haider'."
