Mangalore June 09: Karnataka Vikas Grameena Bank (KVGB) sponsored by Canara Bank, has set a new record by enrolling 44036  Accounts under Atal Pension Yojana (APY) in a single day  said P Gopi Krishna, Chairman of the Bank.  Declaring this Achievement on Thursday he said that  the Bank  is having nine district jurisdiction covering Dharwad, Gadag, Haveri, Belagavi, Vijayapura, Bagalkote, Uttara kannada , Udupi and Dakshina Kannada with a branch network of 629.  Even in this limited service area the Bank has registered this achievement and no other Bank has done this achievement so far in Karnataka andno Regional Rural Bank in the country said Gopi Krishna. 

The Bank, in line with the Government’s saturation mission has undertaken several awareness programme to reach the eligible population. In the FY 2021-2022 the Bank stood first in Karnataka by achieving 131% against the target and so far the Bank has enrolled (Cumulative) 2,64,817 accounts under APY. This contribution has become unique during the celebration of country’s AzadikaAmritMahotsav Gopi Krishna added.

Quoting the report (statistics) of Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA), New Delhi, Mr. Gopi Krishna said Karnataka stands 7th in APY enrollment ranking with an enrolment of nearly 23 lakh Accounts against the eligible population of 2.53 Cr. Though the Bank’s presence is in only nine district jurisdiction the share of the Bank is more than 10 % he said.

Prahlada Joshi, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister congratulated the Karnataka Vikas Grameena  Bank for the splendid Achievement under APY and mentioned that this achievement has become exemplary for all other banks in the country. He also added that this achievement has become unique during the celebration of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.

Brij Mohan Sharma, Executive Director, Canara Bank has also appreciated the efforts of the KVGB and said that this great achievement will inspire all others.
