Soreng, Dec 11: Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang has announced that all girls below the age of 14 in the state will be given free cervical cancer vaccination from April 2026.



Speaking at the platinum jubilee programme of Buriyakhop School in Soreng district, Tamang said that free cervical cancer testing kits will be provided to women aged 30 to 65 years from April next year for early detection and treatment of the disease.
He said that girls below the age of 14 years have been selected for the vaccination as it is highly effective in girls.
"By 2026, we will administer these vaccines to children in all hospitals in the state. This is a very necessary initiative being taken by the state government and everyone should participate in this campaign," the Sikkim CM appealed.
