Mangaluru: The Forum for Human Rights and Anti-ragging Cell, National Service Scheme and Sports Association of the college celebrated International Day of Yoga on Saturday June 19, 2021 at 7.00am to 8.00am.titled “Yoga the Immunity Builder to Combat Corona” in association with Internal Quality Assurance Cell for the staff and students of the college in order to develop the fitness skills.
The International Day of Yoga has been celebrated on June 21 annually since 2015, following its inception in the United Nations General Assembly in 2014.
Yoga is an extraordinary spiritual science of self- development and self realisation that shows us how to develop our potentials in our lives. Yoga brings deep synchronization to the body with the mind through the means of various breathing exercises, yoga poses (asanas) and meditation. Yoga is all about nurturing ones both physically and mentally.
Yogarathna Gopalakrishna Delampady Retired Health Inspector of Mangalore City Corporation was the resource person. He explained the importance of Yoga in our day to day life and way of coping up with COVID 19. Shri Delampady performed different types of asanas, mudras and pranayama and made known its significance in attaining better meditation and relaxation specially to cope with the present period of crisis.
Rev Fr Michael Santhumayor, Principal introduced the guest and welcomed the partakers. Denzil E Pinto NSS programme officer hosted the session and Akhil E T proposed the vote of thanks. The program was conducted on Google Meet Platform, There was an active participation of around 100 students along with the staff members of the respective departments and also members of Delampady Prathistana of different age groups who were a part of the practical session.
