Mangalore: ‘Samarasya’ - Harmony Day, an initiative aimed at promoting unity and cultural diversity, was celebrated with great enthusiasm at St Agnes PU College on 16th October 2024 The event brought together students, faculty, and the community to celebrate the values of inclusivity and mutual respect.

The programme began with the meaningful thoughts of religious texts. Wilma Elizabeth Tauro, Srinivasan Nandagopal and  Zaheer Mannipady were the speakers of the day.     

Srinivasan Nandagopal, Former Correspondent, The Times of India daily news paper emphasized on the theme ‘Vasudaiva Kutumbakam’. As it is mentioned in the Vedas, noble thoughts have to come from all directions.Harmony should be the leitmotif of our lives.

Wilma Elizabeth Tauro, District Labour Officer delved on the constitutional duties of each individual and all should be adhere to it. She also said that the essence of all religions is the same.

Zaheer Mannipady voiced that friendship is the indicator of harmony. He stressed on the ‘Unity in Diversity’. The dance performance depicting interfaith harmony.

Vice-principal Sr Janet Sequeira, Dr Tressie Menezes, Convenor, members of the ‘Abhaya’ committee and the staff witnessed the programme.

Nimra Fathima welcomed the gathering,  Janice rendered the vote of thanks and Akshra compered the programme ably.
