Mangaluru, Jan 11: The School of Social Work Roshni Nilaya organized a regional-level Faculty Development Programme (FDP) titled "Transforming Classroom Practice: Strategies for Effective Teaching Learning." The event aimed to equip educators with innovative teaching techniques and was attended by 65 participants from thirteen institutions across Dakshina Kannada.

The session commenced with a prayer song led by Jinsa, followed by a warm welcome from Veena BK. Dr. Prashanth Bhat introduced the esteemed resource person, Prof. Joselyn Lobo, a retired Dean and Professor of Social Work, who facilitated the session.

Prof. Lobo utilized innovative facilitative methods to emphasize the importance of student involvement in the teaching-learning process. He explored evolving perspectives in education and delved into the "Four C’s" of communication through engaging exercises. The session also highlighted the significance of implementing the VAK (Visual, Auditory, Kinesthetic) model and various learner-centered teaching techniques.

The FDP featured notable dignitaries, including Associate Prof. Cecilia Goveas, Controller of Examinations; Dr. Sandra S. Lobo, Dean of Undergraduate Studies; Dr. Meena Monteiro, Dean of Postgraduate Studies; Dr. Saritha D’Souza; and Dr. Rosa N. Mathew, IQAC Coordinators.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Nashwa Iqbal, while Akshaya emceed the event.

This FDP served as an excellent platform for educators to enhance their teaching methodologies and foster a more engaging learning environment for students.
