Mangaluru: VHP leader Sharan Pumpwell who failed to respond to notices and appear for enquiry was arrested by Kadri police and produced before a court on Tuesday.
According to the police, the arrest was made as Sharan Pumpwell had called for a bandh across Dakshina Kannada on May 2, in protest against the murder of Suhas Shetty, a murder accused and a Hindutva activist, near Bajpe on May 1. Sharan Pumpwell also did not appear before police for inquiry in a case registered against him.
As soon as news of the arrest spread, activists from various right wing organisations gathered outside the Kadri police station
