Mangalore: Mandd Sobhann's 246th Monthly Theatre, the draw of the Tenko Fund Raising Abhiyan Car draw and handing over of the Lifetime Achievement Award to renowned singer Lorna Cordeiro, was held at the St. Aloysius LCRI hall, on Sunday, June 5, 2022.
Businessman Rohan Monteiro picked the lucky coupon of the Mahindra XUV 300 Car Draw. Guest of Honour, CA Olvin Rodrigues, bearer of ticket no. 1301, emerged as the lucky winner. Gurkar Eric Ozario symbolically handed over the car key to him. Konkani leaders and businessmen - Roy Castelino, Richard Rodrigues, Michael D'Souza, Martin Tauro and Mandd Sobhann Committe Members - Louis Pinto, Kishore Fernandes, Stany Alvares, Alron Rodrigues and others were present on stage. Arun Raj Rodrigues compered this programme.
A tribute was also paid to the litterateur and artistes - CGS Taccode, Sunil Crasta Bajal and Harry D'Souza, who expired recently. Martin Aranha, businessman from Dubai, rang the bell and gave a start to the monthly theatre that followed. Irine Rebello compered this part of the programme.
Blooming artistes - Ishan Fernandes, Avril Rebello, Olinka Lobo, Saloni Saldanha, Calvina Pinto, Royston D'Souza, Cliyon D'Silva, Arvin Seth, Lyona, Ronvil D'Souza, Irel Rego, Reha Vas, Liyona D'Souza, Riya Monteiro, Shynel Patrao - presented Mandd Sobhann songs, under the direction of Eric Ozario and Raina Sequeira.
Rony Crasta, Titus Noronha, Flavia Albuquerque, Felcy Derebail, Flavia Karkal, Jossy Pinto, Lavi Ganjimat, Naveen Pereira and Dr. Flavia Castelino - the poets of the Poetica group, recited a variety of poems.
The 4th Lifetime Achievement Award presented by Mandd Sobhann was declared in last January, to the Goan Nightingale Lorna Cordeiro, who rules people's hearts as the queen of Konkani singing world. As she couldn't attend the programme then, due to unavoidable circumstances, she was handed over the Award by the Office Bearers of Mandd Sobhann, at this programme. The Award comprised of a shawl, citation, fruits, flowers, memento and cheque worth Rs. 1 lakh She enthralled the audience with 3 people's favourite songs and music backing was provided by Roshan Bela, Sanjay Rodrigues, Floyd Pereira, Sachin Sequeira, Umesh Idya, Sunil Kumar and Prajwal Fronteiro.
Nellu Permannur, Maria D'Souza Vamanjoor and Sandeep Mascarenhas Shaktinagar of the Comedy Company compered the programme in a unique and comic manner.
