TODAY'S WORD
‘Great crowds came to him, bringing with them the lame, the maimed… and many others’ (Mt 15:30)
REFLECTION
In the first reading Prophet Isaiah foretells: “On this mountain the Lord of hosts will make for all peoples, a feast of rich food, a feast of well-aged wines, of rich food filled with marrow, of well-aged wines strained clear.
And he will destroy on this mountain, the shroud that is cast over all peoples, the sheet that is spread over all nations; he will swallow up death forever.
Then the Lord God will wipe away the tears from all faces, and the disgrace of his people he will take away from all the earth!” (Is 25:6-8)
Thus the Lord invites us to join the banqueting table with Him.
To go to the mountain of prayer and intimacy
To have joyful interactions with Him and receive His spiritual, emotional and physical healings.
To be blessed with the good food of His Holy Eucharist and His nourishing Word.
To have a great satisfaction in being filled with immense peace and serenity.
In gospel passage we see great crowds interceded with Jesus on the mountain. They brought sick relatives, neighbours and friends to Jesus, confident that he would cure them. Jesus not only cured them, but taking compassion, fed the entire crowd with whatever little food there was. And all were filled.
QUESTIONS TO PONDER
Are we missionary disciples? In these trying times, do we care for, or at least pray for, those facing illness, job uncertainty, depression or loneliness?
Jesus loves it when we bring people’s needs before him in faith and even more when we give our own time and energy to reach out and help them. Jesus sees, blesses and rewards.
RESOLUTION
Let us resolve to join in the banqueting table with the Lord & make our lives a beautiful one…to share and care, with people, the little that we have.
And to also dare to know the Lord more and to help each other more.
PRAYER: Lord help me to reach out and help a needy neighbour, placing complete faith, hope and trust in the power of Jesus.
God bless you all. Have an awesome day. Have recourse to intercessory prayer and you will see what miracles are.
