TODAY'S WORD

At that same hour Jesus rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and said, 'I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and the intelligent and have revealed them to infants; yes, Father, for such was your gracious will. All things have been handed over to me by my Father; and no one knows who the Son is except the Father, or who the Father is except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.'
Then turning to the disciples, Jesus said to them privately, 'Blessed are the eyes that see what you see! For I tell you that many prophets and kings desired to see what you see, but did not see it, and to hear what you hear, but did not hear it.' Luke 10: 21-24.
Today's Reflection
As we begin this new month, the prophet Isaiah has an encouraging message for us, “There shall come forth a shoot from the stump of Jesse, and a branch shall grow out of his roots” (Isa 11:1). A stump is the last part of the tree that is left on the ground when the main tree has been cut down. Normally, it is expected that it should die off but a shoot rather grows from it.
First reading gives us the characteristics of the prince. The prince to come will have special gifts given by God. God’s spirit speaks and acts through God’s Anointed One. The spirit of the Lord bestows the king with the graces needed to reign.
The second aspect of the reign of God is the order of creation with the establishment of peace and tranquility among all creatures. This peace is the consequence of the rise of the king in the line of David: an ideal king that is Jesus.
Only try and dispose yourself, your ego, your arrogant attitude, opposing mentality, complacency for that by upholding justice in your little way and living in peace with others, and it shall be well with you.
QUESTION TO PONDER
Can you see? From any seemingly hopeless situation you may find yourself, God is going to lift you up and make you stand out as a sign of his glory to the nations (cf Isa 11:10).
We are in the Advent time
waiting for the prince of peace to come.
† Saint of the Day †
(December 1)
✠ Blessed Charles de Foucauld ✠
Martyr:
Born: September 15, 1858
Strasbourg, France
Died: December 1, 1916 (Aged 58)
Tamanrasset, French Algeria
Beatified: November 13, 2005 Pope Benedict XVI
He imagined Jesus as he was dying on the cross and places these words on Jesus’ lips.
He introduces the meditation saying,
“It is the last prayer of our Master, of our Beloved… may it be ours… May it not only be the prayer of our last moment but that of all our moments…”
Charles once wrote a famous prayer called the “Prayer of Abandonment.” You can honour Blessed Charles de Foucauld by praying it and trusting that God to lead you closer to him.
The Prayer of Abandonment:
I abandon myself into your hands.
Do with me what you will.
Whatever you may do, I thank you;
I am ready for all, I accept all.
Let only your Will be done in me, and in all your creatures.
I wish no more than this, O Lord.
Into your hands, I commend my soul.
I offer it to you with all the love of my heart,
for I love you, Lord, and so need to give myself
to surrender me into you’re your hands
without reserve and with boundless confidence
For you are my Father.
Amen!
MAY GODS BLESSING DESCEND UPON YOU AND YOUR FAMILY DURING THE MONTH OF DECEMBER.
