Here lies the questions, how well are we taking care of our mental health?

Just like our physical health, our mental health also requires equal attention. Our mind and our body work hand in hand. Poor physical health can increase the risk of mental health problems, just as poor mental health can negatively affect physical health. There are various things that can affect our mental health such as personal matters, professional matters, family matters, and many other. Now we cannot delete these issues from our life, but we can find a way to handle it.

At various stages of life we face a number of challenges. Some we handle effortless, but some require more efforts. At times we tend to feel that no matter how much I try, I am unable to find a solution. Most of us give up instantly by telling ourselves that "I'm not worth it" or "I don't care about it" or when the issue is too difficult to handle we tend to resort to vices like drinking/smoking/drugs. Some of us actually work hard and find out solutions to their issues.

Now when we face a crisis, the first thing we should do is not panic. We should try to be calm. Yes, it's not easy but we can try. Start by taking deep breaths or counting numbers backwards. When you feel like you have a huge burden on your shoulder or there is something that has been worrying you for a while, the best thing to do is to talk to someone. A family member, a close friend or anyone you're comfortable with. Talking to someone will make you feel lighter, because you have shared your worry with someone.

They might be able to help you find a way or when you are telling it out loud, you will realize that there is a way out. If you're not comfortable talking to someone, then you can write it down. This will help you analyze what is the issue really is.

If you feel like you need to talk to someone who's experienced or someone apart from your close ones, then there are counselors available. There are various helpline numbers or organizations that will be there to listen to you and help you find a way out.

Always remember in such moments giving up is not an option. There will be times when you will feel like you've reached a dead end, but there will a silver lining. No matter how bad your situation is right now, you will be able to find a way out with the help, lots of determination and love. Take every challenge as a step towards improving yourself. Later when you will look back you at your journey, you will be proud of yourself. There are people who will want to spend their time laughing and making memories with you. Rather live with the grief of you losing you.

Keep this in mind, YOU MATTER.
