Chennai: Police have arrested Ravi Mohan’s driver in connection with a theft case at the Chennai residence of famous Tamil actor Ravi Mohan (Jayam Ravi). Rs 2.5 lakh cash has been seized from the arrested accused and the police are continuing their search for the missing diamond necklace worth Rs 10 lakh.
Valuables went missing from actor Ravi Mohan’s residence in Injambakkam, Chennai on June 22. The actor’s manager had filed an official complaint in this regard at the Neelankarai police station. Earlier, it was suspected that the staff working at the house had committed the theft.
Police rushed to the actor’s house:
The police control room had received information that the domestic workers were being detained at Jayam Ravi’s residence due to suspicion. The police who rushed to the spot immediately freed two female workers and a boy in the house. They also said that even if there was any allegation of theft, a complaint should be filed legally and no one should be arrested and questioned privately. Following this, a complaint was filed through the manager about the theft of a diamond necklace worth Rs 10 lakh and cash.
Jayam Ravi’s car driver:
The police, who took up the investigation based on the complaint, interrogated the staff working in the house and the driver separately. At this time, the police had strong suspicions on Rajesh, who had been working as a car driver for Ravi Mohan for the past six months. When the police interrogated him in their own style, the accused driver confessed that he had opened the locker himself and stolen the money.
Search continues for diamond necklace:
The money stolen from the accused has been recovered and handed over to the actor. However, the diamond necklace worth Rs 10 lakh mentioned in the complaint is yet to be found. Accused Rajesh has been produced before the court and remanded in judicial custody.
