Hyderabad: In a shocking incident, three pilots of a British Airways flight (BA276) flying from Hyderabad to London’s Heathrow Airport fell ill. The pilots are said to have suffered food poisoning due to the food they consumed during their overnight stay in Hyderabad, and British Airways has ordered an investigation into the matter.
According to reports, while the plane was flying at an altitude of around 30,000 feet in the sky, one of the chief pilots was unable to perform his duties due to severe stomach pain and illness. As soon as the plane reached London and landed safely, the pilot was given oxygen and underwent emergency medical treatment.
The other two pilots also suffered minor illnesses, but were able to control the aircraft in a timely manner and land safely. The airline has clarified that the safety of passengers was not compromised at any stage.
What caused the illness?
Before taking off from Hyderabad, all three pilots had breakfast together at a five-star hotel where they were staying. They also drank bottled water from a local private company. It is possible that the illness could have been caused by this food or water.
