Mysore: People from Mysore who had gone abroad with the hope of finding a better livelihood have faced a big shock in Africa. On serious charges of engaging in employment and business without following the appropriate legal permits and regulations, nine people from Mysore have been detained by the local police in Africa.
Traders who went to sell Ayurvedic oil:
These 9 people, belonging to Pakshirajpura village in Hunsur taluk of Mysore district, had traveled to Africa about two months ago with the intention of selling special Ayurvedic oil products. However, the local police conducted an operation and arrested them after it was alleged that they were conducting business without obtaining official permission from the local government and forest/commerce departments. The arrested include former Gram Panchayat President Nironi, Prabhu Deva, Girish, Shahjahan, Shanti and four others.
Family members appeal to public representatives for protection:
The victim’s family members have met former MLA of Hunsur constituency H.P. Manjunath and requested him to intervene immediately to protect their family members who are detained abroad and bring them back to India. Realizing the seriousness of the matter, former MLA H.P. Manjunath immediately brought it to the attention of Minister Dr. Yatindra.
A request has been made to the government to take necessary diplomatic steps for the early release of the detainees through talks through the Union Ministry of External Affairs and the Indian Embassy in Africa.
