Europe, Aug 04: European Space Agency astronaut Sophie Adenot has shared a photo of a heart-shaped lake captured from the International Space Station.

Although scientifically it is an illusion called ‘pareidolia’, she wrote emotionally that the Earth is sending us a message of love, reminding us of the need to protect the beauty of the Earth.

Sophie, who described the scene in her post, said, “It always makes me happy when I see such heart shapes in nature. Scientifically, my brain knows that this is ‘pareidolia’ (a mental state in which we see familiar shapes/faces in inanimate or shapeless objects). Even though it is just an optical illusion, my mind feels like our mother earth is sending us a message of love,” she wrote.

Sophie also expressed concern about climate change and other challenges facing the world today. “In recent years, summer days have not been as carefree as they used to be, and there are many problems in the world. But this heart-shaped lake seen from space reminds us that there is still beauty on this earth that we need to care for and protect,” she asserted.
