Tokyo: A massive earthquake struck while a team of doctors were performing a complex surgery on a patient at a hospital in Kumamoto city, Japan. Although the entire operating room and equipment were shaking violently, the undaunted doctors risked their lives to save the patient’s life by holding onto the operating table. The thrilling scenes were captured on CCTV and have gone viral on social media. The surgery was underway when the ground suddenly shook, causing the lights in the room to flicker and the equipment to sway from side to side.
One doctor fell to the ground due to the force of the tremor, but two other surgeons held on to the operating table tightly. After the tremors stopped, the doctors resumed the operation, successfully completing the surgery and saving the patient.
Strong tremors in southern island: At least 38 people were killed and more than 120 were injured in a powerful 7.1-magnitude earthquake that struck the southern island of Kyushu in Japan on July 28. Hundreds of buildings collapsed and roads cracked. More than 3,500 homes lost power and more than 29,000 people are facing a shortage of drinking water. The intensity of the earthquake was such that it crossed the border of Japan and was felt in coastal areas of South Korea.
