Kuala Lumpur: A female passenger defecated in her seat on an AirAsia flight from Malaysia to China, leaving fellow passengers to suffer from an unbearable stench for hours. The incident occurred even though the toilet on the plane was just a few steps away, causing outrage among other passengers in the cabin.
Midnight incident: The incident took place at around 2 am on the flight that took off at 10.30 pm, when all the passengers were sleeping. A 40-year-old woman got up from her seat and ran to the toilet, carrying her bag.
Passengers thought the woman had gone to vomit. But feces were found splattered on their seats and on the plane’s carpet. When other passengers on the plane confronted the woman, she claimed that she was so sick and uncomfortable that she could not control herself.
40 Minutes of Smell: The incident left passengers sitting in adjacent seats suffering from an intense stench for about 40 minutes. The flight crew immediately cleaned the area using disinfectants and air fresheners to control the situation. The entire aircraft was thoroughly deep-cleaned after the plane landed safely.
Airlines’ clarification: AirAsia China General Manager Frank Tang Ting praised the crew’s quick response, saying that passenger safety and hygiene were their top priorities.
Airline Conduct Rules: According to international aviation rules, passengers who behave unruly on board an aircraft that endangers the health or hygiene of others are considered ‘unruly passengers’ and may be banned from flying in the future.
Health emergencies: If you experience any problems such as stomach ache or indigestion while flying, it is necessary to inform the cabin crew in advance.
