California, Sep 12: A 38-year-old woman of Indian origin, Shalini Thakur, was shot dead by a young man named Rohit outside a Panera restaurant in Sacramento, California. Following the murder, the accused took his own life by shooting himself during a confrontation with the police.

The Sacramento County Coroner identified Shalini as the victim. According to reports, she was on her way to work at a shopping plaza near Howe Avenue and Northrup Avenue when 22-year-old Rohit approached her. Upon seeing Rohit, Shalini attempted to flee, but he pursued and shot her dead.
Rohit was an undocumented immigrant who had previously been detained in Arizona. Officers rushed to the scene shortly after receiving reports of the shooting around 3:00 PM and gathered information about the vehicle used by the accused from witnesses. Minutes later, police spotted the accused driving east and ordered him to stop; however, upon seeing the police, he reportedly shot himself and committed suicide.
