Chikkamagaluru, Sep 12: The district administration has issued an important advisory for tourists planning to visit the famous hill stations of Chikkamagaluru during the auspicious Gauri-Ganesha festival. As a precautionary measure for the festival, tourist entry to sites along the Chandradrona mountain range—including Mullayanagiri—has been completely restricted for one day on September 14.
Precautionary measure to ensure uninterrupted observance by thousands of devotees
On the occasion of the Chauthi festival, thousands of devotees from over 40 surrounding villages visit Mullayanagiri, Seethalayanagiri, and the Sri Guru Narukante Math to offer prayers and perform traditional rituals (such as breaking coconuts). This measure has been taken to ensure that this centuries-old tradition proceeds without any hindrance.
Decision taken to avoid traffic congestion
This decision was made for the convenience of the public and devotees, as the influx of tourist vehicles on the festival day could lead to severe traffic congestion. Chikkamagaluru Deputy Commissioner Bhanwar Singh Meena has appealed to tourists planning to visit Seethalayyanagiri, Mullayyanagiri, the Inam Dattatreya Bababudan Swamy Dargah, and Manikyadhara to postpone their trip scheduled for Sep14.
