Nelamangala, Sept. 12: Police conducted a massive joint operation to rescue young children engaged in manual labor within the jurisdictions of the Bengaluru West Division and the Nelamangala Rural Police Station. Acting on credible information, the police successfully rescued over 71 child laborers.
Authorities had received reliable information that child laborers were being illegally employed within the Nelamangala Rural Police Station limits. Consequently, a special police team led by DySP Umarani and CPI Narendra Babu carried out surprise raids.
During the raids, it was discovered that young children were being employed in strenuous labor. A total of five separate cases have been registered at the Nelamangala Rural Police Station in connection with these incidents. All rescued children have been safely transferred to a child care and counseling center.
Meanwhile, the Bengaluru West Division police undertook a major operation to curb the practice of child labor. Surprise raids were conducted on a total of 917 commercial establishments, garages, and small-scale industries across the division. A total of 71 child laborers were rescued during this extensive operation. The police department is fully prepared to take strict legal action against the owners of shops and establishments that exploit school-aged children by employing them. The police have warned that such stringent operations will continue in the future against those who jeopardize children’s futures and employ child laborers.
