Bengaluru, Sep 12: Customs officials at Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport have arrested an individual and seized 15 kg of hydroponic ganja (cannabis), estimated to be worth Rs.5.25 crore.


The accused, identified as Suraj Suryavanshi, was intercepted and searched by the Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) team at Terminal-2 (T2) after arriving in Bengaluru from Bangkok. He had traveled on Thai Airways flight TG 325, which was scheduled to arrive in Bengaluru at 11:55 PM on the 10th.
During the search and subsequent inspection, high-quality narcotics were found concealed in the accused’s luggage.
A case has been registered against the passenger under various provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. After completing preliminary legal formalities, the accused was produced before a judicial magistrate.
