Bengaluru: The Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs has issued a strict warning to ration card holders in the state. Food Minister Rizwan Arshad has clarified that November 10, 2026, is the final deadline to complete the e-KYC process for ration cards, and this deadline will not be extended further. Notably, over 4.133 million (41.33 lakh) beneficiaries in the state have yet to complete their e-KYC. Failure to complete the process by the stipulated date could result in the removal of names from the ration card or the suspension of ration benefits. Here is the report:

Loss of ‘Gruha Lakshmi’ Benefits:
If the e-KYC process is not completed by November 10, the names of the affected members will either be removed from the ration card or their status will be suspended. As a direct consequence, not only will the supply of free rice (rations) be halted, but the cash transfers under the government’s flagship ‘Gruha Lakshmi’ and ‘Anna Bhagya’ schemes will also be discontinued. Meanwhile, as the e-KYC deadline has already been extended several times, department officials have firmly stated that the upcoming deadline of November 10 is final. This measure is intended to identify and weed out fake or ineligible cards.
So, how do you complete the e-KYC process?
Method 1: Via the ‘Anna Seve’ mobile app (can be done from the comfort of your home)
If your mobile number is linked to your Aadhaar card, you can complete the process yourself using facial authentication.
Download the ‘Anna Seve’ mobile app and the ‘Aadhaar Face RD’ app from the Google Play Store.
Select the ‘Self Citizen’ option within the app.
Enter your ration card number and input the OTP sent to your linked mobile number.
Next, provide the Aadhaar details for each family member and complete the e-KYC by scanning their faces (Live Face Scan) using your mobile camera.
Method 2: At a ration shop (Fair Price Shop)
If you encounter technical issues online, or if your mobile number is not linked to your Aadhaar, you can visit a ration shop in person.
Visit your local Fair Price Shop (ration shop) carrying your ration card and Aadhaar card. You can complete the e-KYC process free of charge by providing your biometrics (fingerprint or iris scan) on the official ‘AHARA’ software system at the department’s office.
