Brazilian national arrested at Bengaluru airport – cocaine worth Rs 24 crores seized

Bengaluru, Feb 19: The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) officers of the Bengaluru Zonal Unit arrested a Brazilian national at the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) on the morning of February 17 and seized 4.776 kg of cocaine worth Rs 23.88 crores from the accused.

The arrested accused had travelled from Sao Paulo to Doha, Qatar and then boarded a flight from Doha to Bengaluru.

“While checking the checked-in luggage of the accused, the officers seized the handbags of four women, in which cocaine was recovered,” the NCB in Bengaluru said in an official statement on Wednesday.

“The accused has been interrogated to gather more information about the source and destination of the drug smuggling attempt. Necessary legal action has been taken under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act,” the NCB said.
