Meghalaya, Feb 20: Shillong Lok Sabha constituency MP Ricky AJ Singhkan (54) has died of a heart attack. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and many political dignitaries have mourned his untimely demise.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday expressed deep grief over the death of Shillong Lok Sabha constituency MP Ricky AJ Singhkan. Singhkan, 54, breathed his last on Thursday evening due to a heart attack. He was one of the two MPs elected to the Lok Sabha from Meghalaya.
Rahul Gandhi, who posted about this on social media, remembered Singhkan’s public service and his commitment to the people of Meghalaya. ‘Saddened to hear the news of the demise of Shillong MP Dr. Ricky AJ Singhkan. His commitment to public service and the people of Meghalaya will always be remembered with respect. My condolences to his family, friends and supporters,” Rahul Gandhi wrote.
Non-partisan condolences from dignitaries
As the news of Singhkan’s death spread, political leaders and colleagues are pouring in with condolence messages on social media. The Meghalaya MP is mourning the loss.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also condoled the death of the Shillong MP. He recalled Singhkan’s service to the people of Meghalaya. “Saddened by the demise of Shillong Lok Sabha MP Dr. Ricky AJ Singhkan. His dedicated service to the people of Meghalaya will always be remembered. My thoughts are with his family, friends and supporters in this difficult time. May his soul rest in peace,” Prime Minister Modi posted on Twitter.
The Chief Minister of Meghalaya has also expressed deep grief over Singhkan’s untimely demise. Singh described him as a compassionate leader who was committed to public service and the welfare of the people.
