Mangalore, Mar 02: A post that went viral on social media regarding a bomb threat in front of a mosque in Ullal has created panic across the district, and the police, taking the case seriously, have registered a case on their own initiative.


Threat against Ullal mosque: Immediate action by the police
A spontaneous case has been registered at the Ullal police station following a threat made on social media to explode a bomb in front of the Ullal mosque in Ullal town. An FIR has been registered in this regard on the instructions of Mangaluru Police Commissioner Sudhir Reddy.
Controversy over Instagram comment
A person named Shankar is said to have made a threatening comment on a post related to Hindu activist Suhas Shetty, who was on the account ‘Team Kalki’ on Instagram, saying, “Support me bro, I will blast a bomb near Ullal mosque.” After this comment appeared in public, it caused a lot of outrage and anxiety.
Screenshot goes viral: Warning to the legal system
The screenshot of this threatening comment was posted on Facebook by SDPI leader Riyaz Kadambu, who appealed, “Take a look at the legal system of the district; the Bomb Blast Control Unit should also be informed.” As soon as this post went viral, the police responded immediately.
FIR filed, trap for the arrest of the accused
Since the threat post on the social media site is likely to disturb public peace, the Ullal police have suo motu registered a case and started an investigation. A special team has been formed to find and trap the accused. In addition, precautionary measures have been taken to prevent any mishap and security arrangements have been tightened, the police said.
Overall, since such threatening messages on social media are a serious challenge to law and order, strict action will be taken against the culprits, police officials have clarified.
