Tehran, March 03: Israel and the US have been carrying out continuous attacks on Iran for the past three days. In the meantime, a 4.3 magnitude earthquake has occurred today. The tremors were felt near the city of Gerash in southern Iran. The earthquake occurred at a depth of about 10 km. The earthquake occurred during a period of intense conflict in the region due to coordinated military attacks by the US and Israel on Iran, which led to the assassination of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Sunday.
Gerash is located on a corridor connecting major energy, port and military infrastructure in southern Iran. Gchain uranium mine (near Bandar Abbas) – Located about 150–180 km southeast of Gerash, Gchain is one of Iran’s domestic uranium ore sources.

Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant – Bushehr, located approximately 250–300 km northwest of Gerash, is Iran’s only operational civilian nuclear power plant on the Persian Gulf coast.
Israel and the United States have jointly carried out airstrikes on Iran. On February 28, the United States assassinated Iran’s Supreme Leader Khamenei in an attack. With this, more than 600 people have been killed in Iran in the US-Israeli attacks. However, Iran is now retaliating. Iran has been continuously carrying out drone attacks on American bases in the Middle East.
This is the second earthquake to hit Iran in the past 15 days. On February 19, a powerful earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale struck southern Iran. According to the German Geological Survey (GFZ), the epicenter was located at 27.36 degrees north latitude and 52.60 degrees east longitude, about 36 kilometers southwest of the city of Mohar in Fars province. The depth of the earthquake was only 10 kilometers, which is quite strong. Today’s earthquake is also at the same depth.
It is a relief that no life or property has been lost so far due to the earthquake that struck Gerash, Iran. Questions have also been raised in Iran about the timing of the earthquake. One question is whether Iran has conducted a nuclear test and whether this earthquake is a result of it.
Iran constantly conducts nuclear tests, which the United States wants to prevent from happening. That is why it attacked Iran on February 28 and killed Khamenei.
