Chikkaballapur, May 15: Customs officials have seized 47 wildlife animals being transported from Bangkok to Bengaluru at the Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru.


47 wildlife animals, including red-footed tortoises, African tortoises, Argentine black-and-white tegu, and Goldie’s marmoset, which were being illegally transported from Bangkok, have been seized.
A case has been registered under the Customs Act and the accused has been handed over to the Bengaluru Rural RFE for further legal action under the Wildlife Protection Act.
Ganja worth Rs 3 crore seized at airport
In another case, customs officials conducted an operation at the Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru and seized hydroponic ganja worth Rs 3 crore 26 lakh.
Based on reliable information, ganja was found in the luggage of passengers arriving in Bengaluru from Bangkok during the inspection. One passenger was found with eight and a half kg of ganja worth Rs 2.98 crore and another passenger was found with 800 grams of ganja worth Rs 28 lakh.
