Bengaluru: The Central Division Cyber Crime Police of Bengaluru, affiliated to the State Cyber Command, raided a fake call centre in Jayanagar and arrested two people who were deceiving people by promising them profits if they invested in the stock market.

The arrested accused have been identified as Yogesh Amarram, a native of Kumawat, Gujarat, and Imran, a resident of Hazrat Nizamuddin, Delhi.
31 mobile phones, 13 laptops, 16 SIM cards, letterhead of Multiware Business Solutions Private Limited and documents containing the names and mobile numbers of the victims have been seized from the accused, the police said in a statement on Tuesday.
The accused, who had started a company named Multiware Business Solutions Private Limited in 9th Block of Jayanagar, Bengaluru, had hired about 15 people from other states as customer care executives. They would call the public and assure them that they would ‘give profits if they invested in the stock market’. They would give bank account details to the public who responded and receive money online. Then they would switch off their mobile phones and cheat them, the police said.
A victim had filed a complaint with the Central Division Cyber Crime Police Station. Based on the location of the number used for the fraud, the police raided the call center in Jayanagar and conducted a check and the conspiracy of the accused was exposed.
In this regard, the police have registered a case under Section 66(R) of the IT Act and 318 (4) of the BNS.
During the interrogation, the accused obtained the data of stock market customers through Google. Police have informed that they have come to know from the investigation that they were obtaining bank accounts from people from outside the state and obtaining SIM cards in other people’s names. They were using those bank accounts and numbers to defraud. They were transferring the money they had defrauded to several fake/mule bank accounts and then receiving the transferred money from their associates through ATMs and sharing it, the police said.
