Bengaluru: The police have finally arrested the dog owner in connection with the Rottweiler dog attack on a female techie that shocked city residents.


On January 26, a female techie named Shalini Dubey (31) was viciously attacked by a neighbor’s pet dog in Teachers Colony, HSR Layout, Bengaluru.
The woman was returning from a walk when the Rottweiler dog viciously attacked her in front of the gate of her house.
The woman suffered serious injuries to her face, hands and legs, including her neck, in the attack and is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital.
8-hour surgery
The woman suffered serious injuries to her face, head and neck due to the dog attack. It is said that the doctors performed a surgery that lasted for eight hours on the woman who was admitted to the hospital.
After the attack, the woman suffered severe injuries to her face and neck, and received more than 80 stitches on her face, throat and scalp, her husband Satya Prakash Dubey said. She underwent surgery for about eight hours.
A deep wound measuring about seven centimetres was dangerously close to her airway, he said. Dubey said the couple has a 17-month-old baby, and the incident left her in a state of shock.
Wife returning from a walk
Recalling the incident, her husband Dubey said that on January 26, at around 6.50 am, his wife was returning from her morning walk when a neighbour’s dog suddenly ran towards her and attacked her. At this time, his wife Shalini fell down.
The dog immediately attacked her brutally. During this time, she suffered severe injuries on her neck, right side of her face and scalp. According to doctors, the injuries on her face and body will remain for the rest of her life, Dubey said.
If it cannot be controlled, it should not be brought on the road
“If the pet owner could not control such a big dog, it should never have been allowed to roam freely. He urged pet owners to follow safety norms, especially the use of safety masts for dogs in public areas.
Dog owner arrested
On the complaint of husband Dubey, a case was registered against the dog owner Amaresh Reddy under sections 117(3) (voluntarily causing grievous hurt), 125 (act likely to endanger life or personal safety of others) and 291 (negligent conduct towards animals) of the Indian Penal Code and later, he was arrested in connection with the incident, the police said.
