Mangaluru: Faustine Sudana Furtado (84), retired teacher and wife of Rev. C. L. Furtado, retired Bishop of the Karnataka Southern Diocese of the Church of South India (CSI), passed away on November 25. She is survived by her husband, Bishop C. L. Furtado, one son and one daughter.

Faustine Sudana Furtado served as a teacher at Milagres Boys’ School and St Agnes Girls’ High School in Mangaluru, as Headmistress of Unity High School in Tumakuru, and as an English lecturer at the Karnataka Theological College (KTC), Balmatta, Mangaluru. She was also the founding Principal and German Language Lecturer at the Moegling Institute of German Language, housed on the KTC campus.
She served as Treasurer of KTC Mangaluru and was a Senate Member of Mangalore University. She also held prominent positions as President of the Women’s Fellowship of the CSI Karnataka Southern Diocese and President of the YMCA, Mangaluru.
