The members of the Legislative Council elected from the local body constituencies met the Hon'ble Chief Minister and submitted a request to increase the grant of Rs.2.00 crore to the Local area Development Fund of MLC’s on 02-02-2023 Thursday.

In the session held at Belgaum on 28-12-2022,they urged the government to increase the Legislative Local Area Development Scheme fund being released to the Legislative Council MLC’s from Rs 2.00 crore to Rs 25.00 crore.

There are 350 to 400 Gram Panchayats in each MLC's constituency and during their tours, the elected representatives of the Gram Panchayats are making requests to provide school rooms, road and drainage works, electric lights, drinking water and other basic amenities. But the Legislative Local Area Development Scheme fund of Rs 2.00 crores released by the government to each MLC is owed to nothing and a situation will arise where no development works can be carried out with this amount.

In this connection, they have made a huge request to Govt. to increase the Legislative Local Area Development Scheme fundsay’s by MLC’s to press. All the 25 elected people's representatives of the local bodies are facing such problems and as we have more association with the Grama Panchayath Peoples. it is necessary for us to pay more attention to fulfilling the basic needs of the people, mentioned in the appeal.

The elected members of the Legislative Council have appealed Hon'ble Chief Minister to make an announcement in this budget to increase the Legislative Local Area Development Scheme fundof Rs 2.00 crore which is limited to the people's representatives of the local bodies of the Legislative Council, to at least Rs.10.00 Crores.

MLC’s Manjunath Bhandary, Dinesh Gooligowda, S. Ravi, Sharan Gowda Patil, Sunil Gowda Patil were present.
