Bengaluru, Jan. 20: The government has issued an order suspending DGP Ramachandra Rao. This action has been taken after a video of Raasleela with a woman in the office went viral across the state. This case had caused great embarrassment to the Karnataka government. The audio was also circulated publicly after the video went viral. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had said that disciplinary action would be taken in this regard. State Director General of Police Dr. M.S. Salim had been instructed to conduct an investigation and take appropriate action. Responding to the media, DGP Ramachandra Rao had clarified that this was the creation of AI and a conspiracy against him. He has been suspended just a few months before his retirement.


What is in the government order?
The Directorate of Civil Rights Enforcement has asked DGP Dr. K. Ramachandra Rao’s video and audio have gone viral in the public domain and this behavior is unbecoming of a government servant and embarrassing to the government. The government is satisfied that his behavior is a violation of Rule 3 of the ‘All India Services (Conduct) Rules, 1968’. In this context, Dr. K. Ramachandra Rao has been suspended for investigation.
During the period of suspension, the officer will be given basic living expenses (percentage of salary) as per the rules. During the period of suspension, the officer will not be able to leave the central office for any reason without the permission of the government, the copy of the order states.
