Many Bollywood films are shot in holy places. Haridwar is one of them. Now Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi is busy shooting for his next film in the holy city of Haridwar. After a video of the shooting location went viral online, the film crew has faced a huge problem with the local residents. Locals who gathered in front of the film shooting set have demanded that the shooting be stopped.

A temporary set was built in Haridwar for the shooting of a scene of the film. The set had a signboard that read ‘Cafe and Bar’. This angered local residents. A heated argument broke out between the residents and the film crew, who demanded that the sign be removed immediately to respect the religious sentiments of the city.

According to local reports, the controversy in Haridwar was caused by a fictional set built by the film crew. The crew had built a fake restaurant for a scene. However, a large signboard that read ‘Cafe and Bar’ was put up on the set. When the video went viral, locals who saw the sign expressed their displeasure, and local residents and members of various Hindu organizations strongly objected and argued with the film crew.

Haridwar is considered one of the holiest pilgrimage sites in India. Alcohol consumption is strictly prohibited here for religious reasons. The protesters argued that it was inappropriate to put up a sign with the word ‘bar’ even though locals said it was a fictional set and not a real restaurant. They expressed their opinion that this has hurt the religious sentiments of the people of the holy city immensely.

Videos of locals and pro-Hindu organisations fighting with the film crew have now gone viral. Although actor Emraan Hashmi is nowhere to be seen, it is clear that the spokesperson of the film crew is trying to talk to the protesters and defuse the situation. According to local reports, the dispute was resolved after the crew agreed to remove the word “bar” from the signboard.

Emraan Hashmi will soon be seen in the much-awaited sequel ‘Aavarapan 2’. The film, a sequel to the original ‘Aavarapan’ released in 2007, is scheduled to release on August 14, 2026. Disha Patani will play the female lead in the film.
