Koppal, July 04: A horrific tragedy has occurred in Gangavathi Nagar of Koppal district. Unable to cope with the severe financial crisis in their lives, three members of the same family committed suicide en masse. The entire Gangavathi city has been shocked by this incident.

Husband, wife and son hanged themselves at home:
Three members of the same family hanged themselves together in a house in the residential area of Prashant Nagar in Gangavathi city. . The deceased have been identified as Prakash Raikar (54 years old), his wife Prabha (46 years old) and their 21-year-old son Shashank Raikar. The fact that the entire family took such a tough decision with their young son, who was still dreaming of a hundred and eight dreams for the future, has brought tears to the eyes of the locals.
Financial hardships befalling the owner of the jewellery shop:
According to preliminary information available from local sources, the deceased Prakash Raikar was running his own jewellery shop in Gangavathi Nagar. Apparently, the main reason for his decision to commit suicide was huge debt. It is suspected that the recent losses in business or personal financial crisis may have pushed him into severe mental depression. However, the real and exact reason for this incident that claimed the entire happy family is not yet officially known.
SP visits the spot, investigation is underway:
As soon as the matter came to light, Koppal District Superintendent of Police (SP) Dr. Ram L. Arasiddi along with his staff immediately visited the spot in Prashanth Nagar and conducted an inspection. The bodies have been taken into custody and sent for post-mortem, and necessary evidence is being collected at the spot.
Death in a seized house
SP Dr Ram L Arasidhi, speaking about the case of three members of the same family dying in Gangavathi, Koppal, said that debt was the main reason for the family’s mass suicide. Prakash Raikar had taken a loan from Manvi Pattan Bank. Prakash’s family died en masse in the house he had sold due to the loan. The back door of the house he had sold was broken and the three went inside and committed suicide.
In 2021, Prakash had sold a house to Nagaraj due to the loan. Prakash Raikar’s family lived in the house he had sold until last February. Nagaraj, who had bought the house, had also taken a loan from Manvi Bank. Manvi Pattan Bank had seized Nagaraj’s house due to non-payment of the loan. Now, Prakash Raikar’s family has died in the house they had seized. Prakash Raikar is said to have a debt of crores. Prakash has owned properties in many places and sold them. It is not known that Prakash was doing real estate. Prakash Raikar’s brother files a complaint. SP Dr. Ram Arasiddi said that they will investigate based on the complaint.
